E-newsletter sent December 30, 2022:
Thanks to our Supportive Community!
We had a wonderful year, with many thanks to our community supporters and those who participated in events at the Adrian Armory Community Center!
Our Taste of Lenawee event was a huge success again…Thank You to everyone who sponsored, participated, and attended!
Our local food artists and vendors appreciated being able to showcase their items and we heard many wonderful comments from those attending.
The Launch Lenawee class is setting out in the community with their finely tuned business knowledge. We look forward to featuring them in upcoming newsletters as their businesses take off and grow; and we hope that you will continue to support them locally.
MEDC Match on Main Grant
The Downtown Adrian Main Street DDA recently informed us that we were one of 35 communities in Michigan to receive an MEDC Match on Main grant of $25,000.
The Adrian Armory Community Center will use the grant to expand the incubator kitchen used by the Launch Lenawee program. This will fund additional cold storage and production space; and increase the storage and kitchen capacity, which will provide a larger baking and catering operation.
All this will increase the opportunity to sell products to storefronts in our downtown area, as well as catering larger events in the community.
Square One Pitch Competition
We were honored to host the fall competition, seeing the variety of entrepreneur ideas being presented.
The Genius Award will help De’Angelo Boone’s mission is to change how food pantries interact with the community. He created the Pantry App, an app that allows better connectivity for food pantries and their patrons.
Ryan Waggoner of Salsa Bliss was awarded the Audience Choice Award. We’re proud of this recent Launch Lenawee graduate and look forward to seeing his salsa at many events in our community!
As always, we are grateful for the ongoing support, commitment, and feedback from all of you. Best Wishes for a Happy New Year! Fondly, Mary and Mark Murray
